Špela Volčič (born in 1984, Miren) is a promising young visual artist and photographer, who acquired her knowledge and experience primarily abroad. After completing the Secondary School of Design and Photography in Ljubljana, she moved to Milan in 2004, where she graduated from CFP Riccardo Bauer. In 2011, she received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, which enabled her to continue her education at IUAV University in Venice, where she graduated in 2013 from contemporary visual arts. After completing her studies, she was accepted to the annual art residency at the Bevilacqua La Massa Foundation in Venice and then at VIR – Via Farini, Artist in Residence program in Milan. In 2017 she received the first prize at the SIFEST – Savignano immagini festival.
Her works have been exhibited in solo and group shows, in institutions in Italy and abroad, such as GAMEC Museo d’arte Moderna e Contemporanea (Bergamo,IT); Fabbrica del Vapore (Milan,IT); Fondazione Bevilacqua la Masa (Venice,IT); Museo Civico G.
