Peter Koštrun in The Wapping Project Bankside, London

17 November 2011 – 14 January 2012

London based gallery Wapping Project Bankside presents Peter Koštrun with the series Sedanjost/Present, from mid-November to mid-January. In the central space of the gallery Koštrun has on display 18 works, while in the remaining areas some new works by gallery artists Elina Brotherus (Finland), Stephen J. Morgan (UK) and Annabel Elgar (UK) can be seen.

Koštrun's series Sedanjost/Present belongs to the genre of landscape photography, which is based on certain carefully determined concepts. He searches for his roots in romanticism and symbolism of the 19th century and in the pictorialism of the early 20th century photography. In his previous works he deals with the specific atmospheres, carefully selected environments and always puts the focus on exploring the formal possibilities of the medium as well as the method of presentation of frozen images. His pastoral scenes are composed as intriguing visual poems; shrouded by a misty veil, his vaporous, softly luminous countryside lends itself to fantastic wanderings and silent contemplation.

Photon had successfully introduced Peter Koštrun last year at the Paris Photo fair, and this year we presented his works at the international fair MadridFoto and in the group exhibition Land / City / Real / Imagined in gallery Diemar / Noble, also in London.
