11th International open call for young photographers from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

The competition for young and emerging artists in the field of contemporary art photography, organised by Photon Gallery, is now in its 11th year. In the more than ten years of its existence, it has grown from a national programme to an international competition, with no less than 18 countries participating CEE. From year to year it has gained attention, as evidenced by the high number of entries. The competition is open to authors up to the age of 35 (including the year of birth 1988), who come from the region CEE (Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Northern Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia) and Austria, and who are internationally active but originate from these countries.

The competition encourages original photography and work that demonstrates originality and innovation in both formal approach and choice of subject matter and concepts. There is no predetermined theme. We accept work that falls within a broad spectrum of photographic and photography-related practices. The first prize comes with €1,000 production support and a solo exhibition at Photon Gallery in Vienna in 2024. The ten selected artists will receive production support of up to €200 in production support and their works will be presented in a group exhibition in Ljubljana.
