DIFFERENT WORLDS 2024 AT BELGRADE PHOTOGRAPHY MONTH

The exhibition will open at Collegium Hungaricum in Belgrade on Saturday, 10 May 2025 at 4 pm, as part of Belgrade Photography Month.

After it’s premiere in Ljubljana, the group exhibition of the 12th edition of Photon’s international photography competition Different Worlds 2024 travels to Belgrade. It presents a compelling selection of ten finalists from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The exhibition offers an insight into the latest trends in contemporary photography and showcases the originality and conceptual depth of emerging photographers under the age of 35 whose work questions the boundaries of the photographic medium. The included artists were selected by a four-member international jury of experts and prominent protagonists in the field of photography.

Although the competition is not thematically restricted, the final selection includes works that cover a wide range of photographic and photography-related practices. With their diverse artistic approaches, the selected artists address themes ranging from personal and collective memory to social issues, identity and the interplay between technology and tradition. Their use of the photographic medium surpasses established frameworks and in some cases uses experimental techniques. It presents a rich spectrum of visual narratives and reflections on contemporary times.
