Peter Fettich, Crushed Berries, 2025
The guided tour will take place on Thursday, February 19, at 5 p.m. at the Photon Gallery.
For many years now, the Photon Gallery has been bringing together two artists as part of its exhibition format known as “Artist’s Dialogue,” in which each artist presents an independent project in their own exhibition space at the Photon Gallery. The purpose of the dialogue is to explore and highlight the diversity of the photographic medium through the perspective of two authors whose practices complement each other on a conceptual or technical level, while also highlighting the contrasts in their artistic practices.
This artist’s dialogue brings together a known and an unknown author. One of the actors is a box that Matej Sitar discovered at a flea market in the USA in 2006 – a box with old Polaroids, scattered negatives, and a handwritten diary. No name, no date, no information about the author – just fragments of life captured in images and words. The story of the unknown chronicler is counterpointed by Peter Fettich with his series Zmečkane jagode (Crushed Berries, 2025), in which he presents a record of his personal story during treatment for tongue cancer. Two photographers meet, each of whom has recorded personal reality in their own way and questions the relationship between the ephemerality of man and the desire to leave behind a personal experience of the world.
