In SEMTÜKVEL, the viewer’s eye is often unable to decide if it sees a 2-dimensional or a spatial (3-dimensional) object, a vertical or a horizontal setting. Thus, the photos create a visual state of uncertainty, a floating perspective without up and down. In addition to that, in PLANETS the camera sabotages our usual perception of mass and extension, width and narrowness: Thus, some of the photos have the effect of black holes.
