The group exhibition Different Worlds 2018 showcases the selection of projects by ten finalists of the Photon’s photography competition for young emerging artists in the field of contemporary art photography in the CEE region. The show presents an insight into the latest trends and tendencies in contemporary photography in this region. There was no prescribed theme of the competition, however, the jury favoured works which exhibited originality, unconventionality, and innovation both in their formal approach and in regard to the selected themes and concepts.

In its 6th rendition the Different Worlds competition confirms the importance of such an initiative targeted at a younger generation of photographers (up to 35 years of age) by hailing the ideas of diversity and critical thought.

The selection of the artists was delivered by an international jury composed of dr. Peter Konschake (a photographer and the founder of the STP Galerie in Greifswald, Germany, which specializes in Eastern European art with the focus on photography), Gerhard Gross (project manager at the Kulturvermittlung Steiermark in Graz; artist, curator and the organiser of the photography biennale Photo Graz - Styrian Photo Biennale) and Dejan Sluga (director and the programme manager at the Photon Gallery in Ljubljana and Vienna). The first prize, the Luka Koper Photography Award, amounts to 1.000€ for the production cost of a solo exhibition at Photon Gallery. The winner will be announced at the opening event.
