After its first presentation at the Photon Gallery in 2024, Goran Bertok’s exhibition Seven Signs is now on tour at the Gong Gallery. The series photographically processes symbols that are a key part of human history, culture and spirituality. Although the project moves away from Bertok’s usual theme of the transience of the body, it remains faithful to the questions of human finitude. The title alludes to apocalyptic interpretations and opens up a reflection on “eternal values” captured in visual symbols. The author’s treatment reveals their complexity and changing meanings in different social environments, while at the same time encouraging reflection on the power of symbols and their influence on the perception of the world and the relationship to the transcendent.
