Different Worlds 2025
Group exhibition of finalists of the 13th edition of Photon’s international photography competition.
The Photon Gallery is opening a group exhibition of the annual international competition Different Worlds 2025, which is being held for the thirteenth consecutive year. It will present an exceptional selection of ten finalists from the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region, aged up to 35.
Every year, we organize an international competition at Photon with the aim of supporting and promoting promising authors working in the field of contemporary photography. The annual exhibition of finalists offers a unique insight into current trends within the photographic medium and reveals the creative power and conceptual breadth of new generations of visual artists.
Although the competition is not thematically limited, this year’s selection includes works that range from the intimate to the social, from the documentary to the experimental, and incorporate diverse approaches – from exploring personal and collective identity to addressing contemporary technological, environmental, and cultural issues. The selected artists often transcend the boundaries of classical photography in their practice and incorporate innovative and interdisciplinary methods.
The selection of artists and works will be decided by a four-member international jury composed of: Gábor Pfisztner a full-time instructor at Budapest Metropolitan University (METU), teaching at the Media Art Institute; David Pujado founder and director of Belgrade Photo Month, Olja Simčič Jerele a photographer, artist, curator and coordinator at DobraVaga Gallery and Sonia Voss a curator and researcher specializing in photography.
