Tomo Brejc
Unfinished Landscapes
The selected works represent the latest phase of Brejc’s artistic oeuvre, which is characterised by sublimated scenes of the man-made environment and human civilisation. These are accompanied by metaphysical landscape images, theoretically based on an exploration of the value of what is depicted. The exhibition represents a new direction in the artist’s ongoing formal exploration of the photographic medium and its expressive and confessional potential. It is a departure from Brejc’s earlier use of staged photography to an exploration of the landscape genre in photography, focusing on humanistic rather than topographical aspects.
