We proudly announce the winner of the Photo-book competition of 2016:

Špela Škulj: Fourteen Positions of the Hands on a Cup When You Feel Tired and Annoyed

For the 2016 competition we received 12 applications and among them the jury (Miha Colner, Jasna Jernejšek and Bojan Radovič) selected the recipient of the photo-book award.

The winner of the award, Špela Škulj, convinced the jury with her purified and simple though visually and conceptually effective approach. Her performative gesture made exclusively for the camera indicates detailed observation of her micro-environment and thus addresses marginal topics that do not belong to the modern world of the spectacle. The series of photographs explore feelings of distress and tiredness through the repetition of the movement. Tiredness, loneliness, boredom and distress are depicted with minimalist movements and positions of the artist’s body [hands] who with a great sense of humour speaks about the things that one usually does not want to show to the outside world. The photobook, entitled Fourteen Positions of the Hands on a Cup When You Feel Tired and Annoyed is only the first one in the upcoming trilogy.

Beside the recipient of the photobook co-production award we would like to point out two additional artists who in the opinion of the jury stand out. The special mention goes to: Lana Bregar & Tea Hvala

The winner, Špela Škulj will produce the photobook that will be launched at Photon by the end of this year.
