Tone Stojko, The Arrest of Janez Janša, May 31, 1988
Friday, October 23, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the Mihelič Gallery in Ptuj.
To mark the closing of the exhibition Unadapted Observers: Outsiders and Outlaws, there will be a guided tour of the exhibition and a discussion with photographer Tone Stojko. The discussion will be moderated by Dejan Sluga, curator of the Photon Gallery.
The event will offer an in-depth look at the exhibition and the work of Tone Stojko, one of the ten artists featured in the exhibition project, which sheds light on the photographic practices of artists who, during the socialist era, worked outside the dominant institutional and aesthetic trends.
The exhibiton Unadapted Observers: Outsiders and Outlaws features artists from various former socialist countries who, in different ways, have distanced themselves from established norms and the mainstream of photographic production.
An exhibition catalog was also published to accompany the exhibition and is available at the Photon Gallery’s online bookstore.
Participating artists: Andrzej Baturo (PL), Vladimir Birgus (CZ), Stane Jagodič (SI), Gábor Kerekes (HU), Ladislav Postupa (CZ), Rudolf Sikora (SK), Tone Stojko (SI), János Szász (HU), Bálint Szombathy (HU), Jindřich Štreit (CZ).
