Even though July is the holiday season, Photon Gallery is not resting yet! We are happy to announce that thIs summer we will be very active!

July 4th marked the opening of The Rencontres d’Arles festival, which has been a major influence on trends in world photography, with more than 40 exhibitions and accompanying activities happening every summer since 1970. This year, the opening week of the festival also held the annual Photo Folio Review, in which Dejan Sluga, the Director and Curator of Photon Gallery, participated as a member of the expert jury.
The artist Matjaž Tančič is also participating in the Arles festival as part of the Inland project. As a participant of the current exhibition at Photon Gallery, Going East, he will also join us at one of our closing activities of the exhibition, at Photon Gallery Ljubljana at the end of July!

Please also be informed that on July 15th at 7 pm, Jošt Dolinšek’s exhibition To Move the Sun and Earth Away will open at the Photon Gallery in Vienna. You can read more about the exhibition here. We would also like to inform you that the exhibition No Borders, which premiered in March at the Fotogalerie im Grazer Rathaus to mark the 30th anniversary of the recognition and establishment of diplomatic relations between Slovenia and Austria, and then in June at Photon Gallery in Ljubljana, is moving to a cross-border event in Bad Radkesburg – Gornja Radgona on August 5th.

The autumn season will start with the opening of a sales exhibition of photographic prints by the participants of the Fotonična šola programme. The end of this educational programme for young photographers, which we are running for the second year in co-production with the Centre for Creativity, will take place on Thursday, September 1st.

The results of this year’s 24th edition were announced this week by Paris Photo, the biggest fair for artistic photography. We are pleased to announce that Photon Gallery has been accepted into the main section of the fair and will be presenting important names of Central European photography at the fair for the fourth time now, from November 9th to November 13th.
