The pop-up exhibition is part of the broader project *Ostrgano za ponovno rabo* (Scraped for Reuse), in which the artist, in dialogue with curator Tia Čiček, explores her own archive of art projects, composed primarily of a series of drawings that critically examine the existence of the individual in today’s world, problematizing coexistence with people and animals, consumer society, depicting civic protests and police repression, and addressing the intertwining of labor, class, and gender through a feminist perspective. In her more recent series, she explores ideas of alternative social organization based on peaceful coexistence, solidarity, equality, and care. A selection of drawings from various series is complemented by a series of photographs of socially engaged street graffiti.
Vesna Bukovec (1977) is a feminist and socially critical artist who expresses herself through various media, with drawing—in addition to video—taking center stage. Over the course of more than twenty years of her career, she has presented her work in a series of solo and group exhibitions both domestically and internationally.
This project is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
