Borut Peterlin graduated from Prague’s FAMU Academy with a Bachelor of Arts in Photography in 1998, and was awarded
a Postgraduate Diploma from The London College of Printing in 2003. In 2000, he received a scholarship to Fabrica, Benetton Group’s Research Center for Communication, where he worked alongside Oliviero TosAcani. In 2001, Peterlin created the Fotopub Festival of
Documentary Photography in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, which he continued to serve as Artistic Director for seven years. As a photojournalist and photo editor he collaborated with Mladina Weekly magazine for more than ten years.
Peterlin’s passion for the pioneering photographic processes of the 19th Century eventually led him to study with Mark Osterman at the George Eastman House in Rochester, USA. Today, Peterlin conducts workshops throughout Europe. In 2015 he created a new annual photographic event in the deep forests of Slovenia entitled Woodland Beyond Photography.
Peterlin has exhibited worldwide, including: Konica-Minolta Plaza Gallery, Tokyo, Japan; K2 Contemporary Art Center, lzmir, Turkey; MartinGropius-Bau, Berlin, Germany; HOST Gallery, London, UK; Kaunas Photo Festival, Lithuania; Shanghai Doland Museum of Modern Art, China; Krakow Photo Fringe Festival, Poland; Museum of Contemporary Art, Ljubljana, Slovenia.
