• The Last Gaze / Post-Mortem Portrait in Contemporary Photography showcases the international selection of photographers and artists who in their artistic endeavour depict the deceased. By focusing on the dead body they question both their own perception as well as socially (un)acceptable notions regarding the concepts, meanings and representations of death in contemporary western society. Tjaša Kučič (1999) is a younger generation photographer, a third-year student of visual communications at the Faculty of Design. Besides photography, she is also engaged in graphic design. With my photographs, I want to trigger emotions in a viewer so that they can, in a way, relate to this experience and learn a little something about surf culture.” The photograph is printed on archival matt 290g paper. The entire edition is printed with a white border in the dimension 40 x 50 cm (including the white border). With each print, you will receive a certificate of authenticity. • Exhibiton catalogue of the project UNADAPTED OBSERVERS. Outsiders and Outlaws. During socialism, the status, function, and aesthetics of photography were remarkably similar across all former socialist countries. In the Central European countries that were part of the socialist bloc, there was also a unique collective organisation in the field of photography, as most photographers worked within the system of photography clubs. However, some photographers have worked outside the system and independently, some because of a particular approach to their work, others because of censorship or even a ban on their work. The exhibition project »Outsiders and Outlaws« focuses on those photographers who stood out from the mainstream of photographic production in the former socialist countries. Participating artists: Andrzej Baturo (PL), Vladimir Birgus (CZ), Stane Jagodič (SI), Gábor Kerekes (HU), Ladislav Postupa (CZ), Rudolf Sikora (SK), Tone Stojko (SI), János Szász (HU), Bálint Szombathy (HU), Jindrich Streit (CZ) Publisher and producer: Photon - Center za sodobno fotografijo Curator, editor and author of the text: Dejan Sluga Design: Jure Legac Proof-reading: Deja Bečaj Printing: Birografika Bori Edition: 200

Valerija Intihar / Photonic Editions II

    Original price was: 190,00 €.Current price is: 140,00 €.
Valerija Intihar (1995) graduated from the Department of Textile and Fashion Design and has been working as an independent fashion and textile designer in Ljubljana for several years. She is currently completing her studies at the Department of Photography at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design under the mentorship of Peter Rauch. In analogue and digital techniques, she investigates the positions of objects in the modern materially saturated world, through documentation of processes and sculptural installations, as well as manipulations in darkroom procedures. She participated in several group exhibitions, among others as part of Gallery 7:069 and ALUO Ponjava. In February of this year, she independently presented the photographic series Low res images in Gallery P74. In the series Weight of an Empty Area, the artist documents traces of absent objects and treats them as her own motifs. She potentiates them in the form of sculptures and interventions in the landscape, which she emphasizes with the "burn and dodge" technique in the darkroom. The photographic project straddles the border between sculpture and performance and ponders the land art tradition of the 1970s.
The photograph is printed on archival matt 290g paper. The entire edition is printed with a white border in the dimension 40 x 50 cm (including the white border). With each print, you will receive a certificate of authenticity. Each print (photograph) comes in an edition of 50.

  • Photographer Vladimír Birgus (b. 1954) has long been important on the Czech and European photography scene, where he played several roles, ranging from photographer and columnist to historian and teacher. A number of high-profile projects are connected with his name, in particular the comprehensive exhibitions and books Czech Photographic Avant-garde, 1918–1948 and Czech Photography of the 20th Century, which have, in a fundamental way, helped promote the works of many Czech photographers internationally. He has also helped to gain appreciation for the works of František Drtikol, Jaroslav Rössler, and Eugen Wiškovský. As a photographer, he has gained an international reputation, and has shown his works in dozens of exhibitions at home and abroad, and his photographs are in a number of important collections. Since the late 1970s, he has systematically expanded his series of photographs called Something Unspeakable, in which he organically links elements of socially concerned documentary photography with a subjective view. His photographs are enriched with many visual metaphors and symbols, whose psychological and emotional meanings are underscored by the symbolic use of color photography. His photographs include existential and dramatic scenes from the streets of big European cities against the background of everyday life and slowly moving history.
